Chimera showcases a dynamic interplay of sustainable elements

Designer Simon Colabufalo crafts Chimera, a chair that showcases a thoughtful integration of CNC cork and sand-cast aluminum, establishing a balanced interplay of sustainable elements. Driven by a purposeful approach, Colabufalo has crafted a seating solution that combines the softness of cushioning cork with a sturdy aluminum base. The use of CNC cork production not only enhances comfort but also minimizes waste, as leftover materials are efficiently repurposed into new blocks.

sustainable design methods result in minimal ecological impact

The extraction of cork from trees is executed with precision and care to minimize ecological impact. The choice of aluminum, with its low melting point, adds another layer of sustainability to the chair. The sand casting process further optimizes material use by melting only the necessary amount to achieve the desired form. In essence, Simon Colabufalo‘s Chimera blends CNC cork and sand-cast aluminum in a purposeful and eco-conscious manner.
