let it grow: compostable iPhone case blooms with basil and flowers when planted after use

Compostable iphone cover that grows basil and flowers

Retail iGreen Gadgets has created a compostable iPhone 13, 14, and 15 Pro cases named iGreen Cover that grow basil, daisies, and forget-me-nots when the user plants and recycles them instead of discarding them after use. The inside part of the compostable iPhone cover has a water-soluble protective film, and when it gets diluted or decomposed, the rack of seeds behind it spills the grains of basil, daisies, and forget-me-nots on its own.

The user just needs to water the compostable iPhone cover while planted in the soil so it slowly melts and distributes the seeds below the earth. The backside of the iGreen Cover also carries multiple active seeds from the chosen herb or flowers, tripling the number of seeds and growth that the user can cultivate as soon as they plant the cover. iGreen Gadgets believes that the case, patented and manufactured in Italy, is the world’s first compostable iPhone cover so far that the user can plant after use and produce herbs and flowers like a mini garden.

igreen cover is made of cornstarch

The color of the compostable iPhone case corresponds to a certain herb or flower: yellow for daisies, blue for forget-me-nots, and green for basil. The iGreen Cover’s material is made of cornstarch to make it easy for the soil to absorb and decompose the material once it is planted. iGreen Gadgets says that the absorption of the material can be quick since the small roots of basil and flowers can grow directly from the iPhone case with cornstarch, which also helps the cover dissolve.

It can take as little as a few days before the seeds inside the compostable iPhone cover can sprout. In fact, the release of the seeds once planted on the ground at an angle of 30 degrees will be immediate. ‘On the inside of the cover, there is a drawer containing seeds, protected by a special film which, in addition to protecting the surface of your iPhone, will dissolve once placed on the ground and wet, allowing the seeds to be released immediately,’ explains iGreen Gadgets. The compostable iGreen Cover is up for purchase on the iGreen Gadgets website.
