in prada SS24 ‘fluid form’ show, translucent thick slime cascades like luminous resin waterfall

Prada ss24 Menswear collection ‘fluid form’

In Prada SS24 menswear collection show Fluid Form, gossamer thick slime pours from the ceiling and pools on the steel floor like a liquified resin waterfall at the Deposito of the Fondazione Prada in Milan. The luxury fashion house embodies the concept of fluidity for its examination of fluid architecture around the human body.

As the models showcase the new collection, the slow descent of the semi-transparent gooey liquid frames the stage set of the fashion show, appearing neon green on the floor as it forms mountainous, sticky puddles. The fashion design sets a tone of transparency around the collection’s motif of freedom, letting visitors see through each other.

Setting the stage for ‘fluid form’

The set design of Prada SS24 menswear collection Fluid Form show is wrapped in steel, from the benches to the columns. The material reflects the lighting, effortlessly amplifying the illumination all the while mirroring the movement of the visitors, models, and the slime waterfalls. The approach of reduction achieves a sense of minimalism where two protagonists, the slime and the steel, are ushered into the spotlight as the leading visual cues.

For many of its fashion shows, OMA/AMO and Rem Koolhaas have crafted Prada’s staging as recently seen in the luxury fashion house’s FW23 where multiple three-meter-tall chandeliers retract to their original position. The pleasure of tactility resulting in a range of surface textures and finishings showed up in their collaborative show to spotlight Prada’s FW21, a hint that the present Fluid Form show for Prada SS24 menswear collection may have benefited from OMA/AMO and Rem Koolhaas design too.

Prada’s fluid architecture through abstract slime falls

The Prada SS24 menswear collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons suggests freedom of the body, part of it in the way the garments flow with liberty around the models’ built as they move. The notion of fluidity, which encapsulates the contours of the human figure, evolves and dances in the collection as seen in the continuous sway of the garments and the looseness of the outfits.

The Deposito of the Fondazione Prada serves as the show venue, where the concept of fluidity is vividly manifested through the interplay of abstract walls that create an alluring sequence of ever-changing passages. The stage design complements Prada’s SS24 menswear collection, compacted in a fluid-form show that captures the dynamics of motion and potential perpetual transformation within a cyclical setting.
